5.27.01
This is part two of today's update. One last painting was placed in the gallery section, even though for all intents and purposes it's already been sold, but maybe you'd like to see it anyway.

5.27.01
Two paintings were added today for your viewing pleasure, one which was a commission and another that was just for fun. Actually, the non-commission painting was intended for a local group show called 'erotica XXX,' but since the completion a couple of things have changed. About a week ago i went down to Mojos, the coffee shop that my impending solo show will be held at and looked at the size of the display space. It is much bigger than i anticipated, not that this will be a problem, it's just that i need to hang on to as many paintings as i can for the show, for the owner specified that i need to 'fill the place up' with work. I'll probably borrow back a previously sold painting for the purpose of exhibiting in the show also. So.....this painting is stuck with me for Mojos, and i made another, smuttier painting for the erotica show, or at least to try and get into the erotica show. This other painting is done, and was even sold two days after completion, and i should have a pic for the site in another day or two.

If any of you out there in the void of the internet are contemplating commissioning a painting, please keep in mind that there is a growing waiting list of orders in front of you. It's mostly paintings, with a few other interesting orders like rebinding an out-of-print book and painting a prosthetic arm, and a possible collaboration on an internet-only comic book. Well, i guess you could call it a collaboration, it looks like i'd be doing all the actual drawing, inking, and/or painting with the other person just writing the story, but it could be interesting.

Another small update, two blank books that were done recently and the latest painting. The updates should be less infrequent for a while, as i'm done with moving to the new house and have nothing but painting commissions to work on now. Also, the show at the coffee shop is set for the month of july, with the opening on the first, so once i get some of these commissions out of the way i'll be able to concentrate on promoting the show and i'll have more details for you, my loyal fans.

3.15.01
A few images have been added to this site, one new painting and three photos of another day planner that was recently constructed. It's a small update, i know, but i've got some more photos to be developed, so there will be another addition to the site within the week.
If you live in the Austin area, there is a group art showing happening this saturday, March 17, that i'll have four paintings in, including a piece that i just completed on the 13th. The show is called SXSOWHAT, as an alternative to the South by Southwest media and music festival that is going on, and it's at the new Art Core studio space. Call 512-476-4700 for more details. Also, the owner of one of the local coffee shops wants me to do a show in July, so as soon as i know more the information will be posted.

This is a busy time for me. I've got a number of commissions lined up, and a few paintings have also sold, including 'Lurch Furger', which is going to grace the cover of the new Hekillthree album. As far as i know, the album is already complete, and all that's left is to set up the packaging and artwork, so i'll let everyone know when it's available. Also, the prices for the paintings that are available have been posted, but the price doesn't include shipping if you live anywhere but Austin.

I've noticed that there are a couple of problems with the images on this site, namely the clarity and sizes. And now that i know just how i screwed that up, i can fix it so they won't be so erratic. When i actually get around to doing it, who knows, but it is bugging me, so it should be soon.

No prices yet, but again, soon.

1.9.01
Added one painting, two bags and six books to the site this fine, fine morning. And yes, i realize that the updates are becoming more and more infrequent, but you know what? Tough shit.

New to the Joeymarez corporation: i've managed to wrangle a deal with another model, whose wiry, well-muscled little body will soon be gracing the surfaces of my canvases soon, very soon. there are a few details to work out (and i need to buy some film), but i have a feeling that she will be an excellent subject. let's face it, i'm girl crazy, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and i will probably never use a male model unless i absolutely have to. and even then i won't get this excited about it. but i digress...what's also great is the previous model's pictures are still proving to be useful reference material, and are still bringing in some money every once in a while. One of the recent paintings, "Lurch Furger" may soon be used for the cover of a local band's debut cd, more details to come as plans solidify.

People, i think we need to get something straight. i'm not just displaying the pictures of these paintings here in cyberspace so i can say to my mom, "look what i done painted!" Hours and hours of my dwindling spare time were not spent to create what i can hopefully call art so that i could fill a website with pictures that people will view and say, "oh, isn't that precious?" They are FOR SALE, and you people need to purchase them. At first, i was willing to give the masses the benefit of the doubt, and i guessed that people just didn't have money laying about to purchase art, or maybe hated my stuff. Now i've realized the sad truth, that unless the prices are posted the thought won't cross those little crusty peas that pass for humanity's brains that hey, i could buy that painting and hang it over my sink!

Honestly, i'll continue to paint and draw irregardless of whether or not any one expresses any interest in them whatsoever. i have no choice, i have to. BUT, it sure would be nice to be able to do this all day long, knowing that it's providing a roof over my head and putting ramen in the cupboard. I could also update this site much more frequently. It's happened before, supporting myself strictly on the profits from artwork and such, and all by word of mouth, i might add. So...help me to disprove the conclusion i've drawn lately, that everyone who visits this site is stupid, and buy or commission something. Or i will be forced to raise my already uber-affordable prices to make the stray projects that do come in worth my while.

Oh, and i'll try to put some prices up also, just in case.

Three paintings have been added to the gallery section, and four pictures of a day planner that i constructed have been added to their appropriate section. Other than that, not a durn thing has been done to this site, despite all the talk and veiled threats of a complete and total overhaul, which may or may not improve things here. Every time i call this site up in the browser, i'm reminded of just how old and outdated this site is, be honest now, when you look at it, don't the words "that is SO january!!" leap into your mind? Maybe i'm alone in this, but surely someone out there agrees with me.

One small update - five more pictures were added to the leather section. AND, i've back to looking through the lingerie section of the Sears catalog for models and reference material. The previously mentioned model is no more, due to creative differences with the management of JoeyMarez.com Inc. and all associated enterprises and subsidiaries. I guess my homemade salsa just wasn't good enough...in other, more interesting news, that new, wonderful, slicker than the grease between your two largest toes, updated version of this website, as you may have noticed, is nowhere to be seen. That is because I haven't done ANYTHING with it just yet, but soon....

coming soon
Keep your eyes peeled for a brand new look and/or possible touch of style here at joeymarez.com, there are sneaky plans afoot to revamp the entire site and create something new and possibly exciting. You may say "yeah, right, that's really going to happen this year," but i do have a scanner and a library card now, so i can check out books on html to further confound my efforts.

Garth Trace Trimble, this one is for you...
One VERY LARGE update has been added to the entire site, there are photographs of seven new paintings, eight new leather works, and even a couple of links for you to follow when you get bored with me. Now, as the previously mentioned person has been so delicately asking me every time i talk to him, "When are you going to update your @#!$ing website?" I realize that my last update was in February, and i also realize that this is unacceptable, pathetic even, but to this i can only offer one small excuse - i am lazy. Oh sure, there were actual tangible reasons at work also, such as the lack of a scanner until yesterday and the sorry performance of 'Operation-Joey Wants to Work in his Underwear,' which forced me to get not one, but two jobs, and to pawn my boxers, but i digress. At the heart of this dilemna is the simple fact that i never got off of my dead butt and updated the site. There was painting going on, there was much sewing of cowflesh, and there was even documentation of said activities, it just never made it into my computer. From now on i promise to update more often, AT LEAST every month, or every few months, and if there isn't any good news, i'll make something up.
